WREST PARK

CLIENT : ENGLISH HERITAGE

Wrest is a terrifically important place for the history of garden design with the work of leading designers spanning three centuries detectable in the landscape. The key to Wrest’s scheme was achieving vastly richer interpretation than had existed previously, without damaging the garden or being obtrusive in the landscape. We adapted our SPIKE technique (part of our Interpretation Tools range) to develop flexible no-dig signage that the team can work around, and delivered a range of simple interactives from bench-mounted ‘ghost building’ viewers and Claude glasses (a sort of early filter, beloved of landscape artists to compress and capture a view), to a mirror table for viewing the ceiling of the Grade I listed Archer Pavilion.
